Booking a service you haven’t used before can be daunting and we know you’ll have lots of questions. What happens if I want to stop for the toilet during the journey? What sort of luggage can I bring? and many more. So, we’ve created this FAQ’s to help you understand how we operate and what you can expect.

General Information

Scenic Scottish Transfers provides private high-quality premium journeys to and from anywhere in central Scotland for clients who want quality service and to be driven in high-specification vehicles.

Our focus on customers who want professional yet friendly service but who don’t want the formality and stuffiness of business style trips. We can take up to 6 passengers with their luggage and if needed, their bikes too, all at the same time….an exceptional carrying capacity.

We operate throughout Central Scotland and we are happy to quote for any journey to or from Central Scotland –trips starting or ending in Glasgow or Edinburgh are particularly popular.

Our transfer service includes door-to-door transportation in clean well-maintained vehicles with professional drivers getting you to your destination safely while regaling you with local stories and pointing out interesting things along the way. Additional services such as stops for sightseeing / lunch can be arranged upon request.

Quotes, Booking and Payments

You can enquire about or book a transfer by contacting us via email at hello@scenicscottishtransfers.com or by completing the form on our website. We will provide you with a quote for the itinerary you have requested. Please check your spam/junk folder if you don’t see it in your inbox.

The costs vary depending on journey and any other additional requirements. Please email us at hello@scenicscottishtransfers.com with as much detail as possible to get your tailored quote.

Once you receive a quote from us along with the booking Terms & Conditions, please email us back to confirm acceptance of both elements. We will then ask you to pay a non-refundable 20% deposit and at this point your trip is booked! Happy travels!

Yes, a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total balance is required to confirm your booking. The deposit should be paid via bank transfer.

The entire balance of your payment is due 2 weeks (14 calendar days) before the first day of the service we provide to you.

We accept bank transfers – details will be communicated when you have accepted our quote.

If you wish to change any part of your confirmed booking, please inform us via email as soon as possible. While we will do our best to accommodate your request, changes may be subject to an administration fee and any extra costs incurred.

: If you wish to cancel your booking, please inform us in writing as soon as possible. Cancellation charges may apply depending on the timing of the cancellation:

  • More than 14 days before the first day of service: Only the non-refundable deposit will be retained by Scenic Scottish Transfers, you will get back any other payments made.
  • More than 7 days before the first day of service: 50% of the overall confirmed price will be retained by Scenic Scottish Transfers, you will get back any other payments made.
  • 7 days or less before the first day of service: No refund of any monies will be provided.

Your driver will be in regular contact with you ahead of the trip via phone or WhatsApp message and therefore will try all they can to accommodate any delays or minor changes to the pick-up location however this cannot be guaranteed. In the event that you and your party are not present at the noted departure time and location, it will be considered a ‘no-show,’ and a charge of 100% of the travel arrangement cost will apply. No refund will be given.

Last-minute bookings are subject to availability. Please contact us as soon as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Absolutely, we regularly take clients on trips of more than one day. Examples include taking film crews on a four-day filming trip around the North Coast 500 or taking a family to a wedding in the North of England and returning them the next day. We are also able to work with our partners in the industry to book accommodation or any other trips for you. Again, just let us know – we’re always happy to try and help.

During the Transfer

The driver will communicate with you via WhatsApp message. Ahead of your transfer you will also be provided with the drivers WhatsApp details so you can message them directly if you have any issues. The driver may also call you if they cannot get in touch via WhatsApp or if in their opinion a phone call would be better.

No, our transfers are absolutely private, just for you and the group of people you booked for.

Yes, at their discretion and depending on time drivers can make limited stops for photos and indeed, depending on conditions they’ll often point out possible photo stops during your journey. However, if you want to stop somewhere specifically, or take time out of the journey then please inform us of this when asking for a quote and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Yes, you can request to visit places of special interest along the route by prior arrangement. Please inform us of your preferences when requesting a quote, and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.

If you need to make an unscheduled stop during the journey, please inform your driver. We will do our best to accommodate your request, subject to time and route constraints.

Yes, well behaved common types of pet are welcome on our journeys however you must inform us when asking for a quote to allow us to discuss necessary arrangements with you.

We can transport bicycles on top of some of our vehicles. They will be secured during the journey using Thule roof bike racks. Ensuring that the bikes are appropriately stowed and the security of your bikes while on the vehicle remain your responsibility as we cannot accept any responsibility for any damage to bikes while being transported by Scenic Scottish Transfers or any of our suppliers.

Please inform the driver in good time if you need a toilet break during the journey. We will make necessary stops to ensure your comfort.

Eating and drinking in the vehicle are not generally allowed. As you can imagine the types of food and drink being consumed can differ substantially so it’s at your drivers discretion as to whether specific food or drinks can be consumed in a safe manner.  

Our drivers are professional yet friendly. They are committed to providing you with a safe and comfortable journey but are also eager to share their local knowledge and stories about places along the way. Feel free to ask them any questions on your mind from “what is that I can see to my right in the in the distance” to “are there any good whisky pubs where I’m going” and anything in between!

Tipping is not mandatory but it is always appreciated if you are satisfied with the service provided by the driver.

Our drivers primarily speak English. If you require assistance in another language, please inform us when requesting a quote.

Safety and Accessibility

While we are not a specialist company with vehicles specifically catering for the needs of those with accessibility constraints we strive to make our services accessible for all passengers. Please inform us of any special requirements when booking, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Yes, children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will be responsible for any children at all times. If your child is less than 1.35m tall, please notify us when requesting a quote to allow us to discuss with you any necessary provisions.

While we always ensure our vehicles are clean and tidy we can, by prior request, ensure our drivers undertake additional hygiene practices. These include the wearing of facemasks and / or medical style disposable gloves. Please request this at the point of asking for a quote

Customer Support and Feedback

Scenic Scottish Transfers will track your flight using the flight details you have provided to us. Where feasible we will make necessary adjustments to accommodate the new arrival time however we cannot guarantee this. It is unlikely that we would be able to collect you if your flight is diverted to another airport.

If picking you up at the changed arrival time and / or airport is not possible then we will cancel your booking under the terms of our cancellation policy and we will inform you via email.

You would then need to arrange separate transport from the arrival airport or at the new arrival time – we can potentially help with this so please stay in touch with us. We always want to support our customers get to their destination however as you’ll appreciate, in some cases of flight delay / diversion this may not be possible. This is one reason why we ask all customers to have appropriate travel insurance to cover these types of additional costs and expenses resultant from unforeseen issues.

As you’d expect, our professional drivers will make every reasonable effort to get you to your destination on time. However, as you’ll appreciate there, are on occasion, circumstances outside of our control which may affect this goal and result in you getting to your destination later than planned and possibly even missing connecting transport. While we cannot be held responsible for any delay or missed connections we may be able to assist you in making alternative arrangements.

These unforeseen circumstances are why we ask all customers to have appropriate travel insurance to cover any additional costs and expenses resultant from unforeseen issues.

Luggage and Vehicle Information

Each person can bring on the journey one suitcase up to a maximum weight of 23kg and with a maximum total size (length + width + height) under 275cm and a small personal bag such as a handbag or laptop bag measuring no more than 40x20x25cm. For additional or overweight luggage, please inform us when requesting a quote.

All of our own vehicles can accommodate up to 6 passengers. However, if you require additional passengers we work with a network of trusted suppliers to provide you with the vehicles to accommodate the number of passengers your require.

Yes, our vehicles are equipped with charging ports for your convenience, please speak to your driver about this. However in many cases you will need to provide the charging leads for your own device.

No, our vehicles do not have Wi-Fi as standard.

Mobile/cell phone reception may vary depending on the route and location. Please check with your mobile service provider for coverage information.

Most our vehicles and drivers will be clearly identifiable with Scenic Scottish Transfers branding. However, on occasion if we require to use our network of trusted suppliers to complete your journey they may not be identifiable as Scenic Scottish Transfers. In this instance we would provide you with details before pick up to allow you to easily identify your driver and vehicle.

Yes, we regularly transport other types of luggage for our customers such as golf clubs, ski equipment, film crew equipment, bicycles or children’s apparatus such as push chairs.

Please notify us at the time of requesting a quote of any additional luggage or items you wish us to transit and we will discuss specific arrangements as part of your quote.

Please note that the appropriate stowing of these items within or on the vehicle and the security of these items in transit are your responsibility and we will not be held liable for any damage to these items while we are providing services to you. You have a duty to ensure that the items are stowed securely and safely within or on the vehicle.
